It is during this stage in your life that you are dealing with major changes in the body, invasive check ups, opinions about your informed choices whether they were invited or not and major planning. All of this can cause lots of stress and anxiety. You aren't looking for a yes person, but it would be nice to feel supported. Did you know that people in labor who are being supported by a labor doula have a wide range of advantages over those that do not?
People who are attended by a labor doula are more likely to have shorter labors, less likely to have a cesarean birth, less likely to feel like they are losing control during labor and are more likely to be satisfied with their births. Additionally, the chances of expectant parents suffering from postpartum depression is also decreased. Why wouldn’t you want to have a doula support you during your birth?
