My Story

Aquiona Barnhardt is a doula in training and the creator of the brand and her doula practice, Benevolent Baybee. She has always expressed an interest in holistic living, serving people and doula work. She has completed in person training that brought her closer to her dream of being a certified labor doula. She is determined to do what she can to achieve her goal and serve people with an open heart.

Aquiona Barnhardt is affectionately known as Queen in her household. She is a mother and wife and loves anything that allows her to express her creativity.  She is a great cook, loves to crochet and write poetry and watching anime and playing video games.  She has a quirky personality and even though she is quite the introvert, she wears her heart on her sleeve and believes that anyone can make a difference in the world no matter how small the gesture. She loves stories of triumph and hopes to see her future clients triumph over the challenges of labor and be able to bring their babies into the world undefeated and with pride.

My Training
Completed 18 hours of in person doula training
CAPPA June 16 and 17, 2018

From the beginning, women have been birthing babies... fully trusting in the power of their body to do what it needs to do to bring the baby safely into the world.  Somehow along the way, it became normal to distrust the natural process of giving birth and women became accustomed to unnecessary interventions of hospitals.  The beautiful, raw, phases of pregnancy and birth became looked upon as a sickness or an ailment, that needed to be treated rather than supported. I believe that doulas and medical professionals can work in harmony together for the benefit of the patient... supporting them, making sure that they are aware of all possible procedures and that they feel the confidence to ask questions about the care that they are receiving... and not being shunned or dismissed for doing so.  I believe that with the proper support a client can have a birth that she can feel proud of and a timeless story of her children's birth that will  become an intangible family heirloom for years to come. Whether the parent to be has had an epidural, a cesarean birth or is birthing vaginally, a doula provides support that cannot be replaced.  From essential oils, rebozos, massage and guided movement and chanting to just holding space and giving client a sip of water and telling her what a great job she is doing.  We are always useful.  Trust yourself and let the oxytocin flow!
